Hello Everyone! The next planned garden work day is May 21st, 2011 8:00AM – ??.
He will finish filling the garden beds with dirt, mulch and compost. We should have 5 more tons of dirt coming on Friday which will allow us to comeplete that aspect, phew! This would be a great day to start planting your garden if you have not already done so. Bring a Shovel, rake, old newspaper (non-colored) and possibly garden gloves if you can. As of today we have 13 plots accounted for, with 3 still available. If you or anyone you know would like a plot please let me know. We now have 13 plots filled in with dirct, and several plots have already been planted.
A special thank you to to everyone who was able to lend a hand over ther last couple of Saturdays, especially battling the rain last weekend. Especially Rich Chambers and Steve Caskie who were generous enough to let us use their pickup trucks, and Bob Cullen who brought his tiller.
Also, bring seeds and/or plants if you intend to plant. There is certainly time to direct seed: carrots, beets, chard, kale,
lettuce, scallion, parsley, basil, leeks, zucchini, tomato etc…Rich Chambers has also started a number of plants from seed that he is willing to share as well.
However, if you are looking for organic plants and are having difficulty, you can try the following places:
