Rain Barrel Workshop — Followup

We had a great time last night at the rain barrel workshop.  Thank you to everyone that was able to make it out to join us.  We constructed 6 rain barrels.  A Big thank you to Ron Horiszny & the Saucon Creek Watershed Association for making this happen!

We also had a rather nice donation from the Sarah, the Schanewolf’s, Bill A. & Deborah Appler and the Hursyz’s.  I would estimate that to be about 40 lbs, pushing our total to 409lbs of produce!  Thank you all.

As always, here are some pictures:

329 lbs and counting!

Hi everyone,

We had 2 pickups last week as well as the week before bringing our grand total to 329 lbs. and counting.   Outstanding work everyone!!!!   We had a variety of tomatoes eggplant, peppers, hot peppers, a few squash and a couple small mellons.

That last few weeks of storms have hit some of our tomatoes hard, I myself had several that have split open.  Hopefully the rain will subside a bit and we can continue to get healthy produce!

I notice several people with plots that have plenty of produce ready to pick.  There will be a pickup on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this week, so if you are able please get out to harvest.  We will have a box on the steps, and or boxes in the shed that you can put your donations in.

In the next few weeks, I would like to hold a general meeting as well as a work day to finish up some remaining.  Stay tuned for more information.

180 pounds and counting….

Hello everyone,

Just adding up our donations so far and we are somewhere in the neighboorhood of 180 lbs of produce donated from our gardens to date.  Outstanding work everyone.  Squash seems to be falling off, making way for an onslaught of tomatoes from everyone’s gardens.

So far we have 2 scheduled weekly morning pickups:

Tom Walters will be picking up produce on his way to food bank at St. Andrews on Tuesday mornings.  His preference is to have the produce sitting on the steps next to the shed in the morning so he can grab it.

Carol Beach will be picking up produce on her way to the food bank at Trinity on Thursday mornings
