Garden Updates & Workday — 05/12/2012

Hello Fellow Gardeners!

Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Gasland movie. We had a good number of people in attendance, and had lots of questions and answers.

If you have not been up to the garden in the last day or so, you will notice that the garden is completely enclosed by the fencing. A tremendous thank you to Andy Hurysz & Ron Horiszny as they have done most of this work on this project, and without it we would be in rough shape.

With that said we have some finishing work that may include wiring the fencing to the posts and coming up with an additional deer deterrents. We have a few ideas, including aluminum pie pans, or hair from a barbershop in a mesh bag. Any other ideas might be helpful too. I need one or two volunteers to help put the finishing touches on the fencing.

We also need to find some volunteers willing to help mow the garden area. Thus far Andy has been doing most of the work, and it’s a task that we all should be helping with, it doesn’t take long, maybe 20 minutes. If you are interested in lending a hand let me know and we can come up with a schedule.

Also a thank you to Jane Cook, as she has been watering everyone’s plants, which has also been a tremendous help.

I’d like to Schedule a workday this coming Saturday, May 12th at 10:00AM. The new area is coming along, but we still need to do some work in regards to cleaning it up and making it till-able (is that even a word?!?!).

Glad to see the rain, we definitely need it!

Hope to see you this weekend.
Jason
