I just wanted to update everyone on our latest harvests! Thank you Jane for continuing to water as we go through more hot weather with no rain. Thank you to everyone who left donations since the last time.
Some updates regarding the yellow jackets. Becky talked to Viking Pest Control last week regarding the yellow jackets, and they came back with some disappointing news. They will not treat the yellow jackets while the garden is active due to the pesticides. They could only treat the bed if we removed all the vegetation. He would then treat the area, but before we could grow vegetables we would have to remove all the dirt from that raised bed about 6 inches down because it would be considered contaminated. He was also concerned that we may have to do this anyway due to the spray I already used in that area. Their advice is for us to hang in there until the end of the season, planning on picking vegetables during the hot part of the day and stay away from the bed in question as the evening sets in and temperatures cool down.
